Watching AVIVA Tour of Britain 2015 cycling race at Monsal Head

We drove over to Monsal Head instead of Buxton to watch Stage 6 of The AVIVA 2015 Tour of Britain cycling race through the Peak District. What a beautiful place to wait for race leaders in the sunshine today. Views from the carpark at Monsal Head looking down over Monsal Trail cycle route which passes close to Tideswell.

The Police motorcycle escorts came from as far as Devon and Wales and were at a loss for directions for alternative routes for drivers looking to get round planned route.

Leaders speeding through Monsal Head ... gone in a flash after waiting an hour or so.

Amazingly close together at speed and all on one side of the road as they sped past the waiting crowd!

Then a few minutes wait again until the rest caught up! In between many team support cars with extra bikes on roofracks

Then they are gone down past The Monsal Head Hotel, where we stopped to have some delicious soups outside in the garden of The Stable bars. Both the bar and the cafe next door are dog friendly.

Meanwhile Lucky, our golden retriever thinks "can I go down there for a walk ?" It looks more interesting for me down on the Monsal Trail than watching cyclists and flashing lights of police motorbikes.

We'll leave that for another day. He's nearly 11 now and has already been out for an hour and a half this morning around lanes near Tideswell. There's so much do do around the local area, It's hard to choose!

Meanwhile, back to the VW Transporter for a ride back to The CornerHouse in Tideswell for a well earned rest and something to eat after a busy day!

We are ready to plan our next outing in between jobs in the house and garden...
