Bakewell

Bakewell was granted its market charter in 1254. With a population of around 4000, known locally as the “Capital of the Peak” the town lies approximately 7 miles and about 15 minutes drive from The Cornerhouse, Tideswell.  Regular bus routes link directly between Tideswell and Bakewell meaning you can leave your car at home for the day out.

The annual Bakewell Show held in August is one of the largest events locally and one of the oldest Agricultural shows in the UK.  Weekly markets including the agricultural market on Mondays and Farmers markets held on the first Saturday of the month have been established for over 700 years. With shopping arcades to explore, walks along the river bank to spot the ducks and trout swimming, The famous Original Bakewell Pudding Shop plus the Christmas Market, Bakewell will offer you an exciting day out.
