We have so many wonderful old houses and buildings and gardens to explore in The Peak District. Haddon Hall is an old Tudor Manor with beautiful terraced gardens overlooking fine countryside. It is being restored currently for the owners Lord and Lady Edward Manners and family to move back in after 200 years.
Haddon Hall has featured in films such as Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre and is just 3 miles from Chatsworth House.
When we visited there were activities for children of all ages including archery on the lawn, live music in the main hall and story telling for children...
This year John and I visited several local villages at the end of August and beginning of September and saw some amazing creativity in the Well Dressings. They run from May/June up to mid September each year at different locations. Some celebrate with a carnival procession such as Tideswell at the end of June and there are often activities during the week of display for families and visitors in many of the smaller villages.
People of all ages come together to work on the projects.
Designed and built by local people each year using flowers, seeds, petals, wood, coal, feat...
Fabulous tasting at this year's Tideswell Food festival on Saturday 30 April . 4 seasons of weather in a day, but local traders and visitors to Tideswell enjoyed the day. Local Community Choir singing, Tideswell Male Voice choir and a band were providing entertainment throughout the village.
This year John helped in Tideswell's Community Garden and our motorsport awnings were suitably dressed for the occasion with carrots and peas.
Christmas is a special time to be away with family in a cosy cottage with a real Christmas tree, scents of oranges and spices and gathering round a roaring log fire after your Christmas dinner playing a board game together.
Our ever popular welcome hamper includes a hand made decorated and iced Christmas cake from the local Bakery Tindalls.
